YRA also participated in the Continental Youth Consultation that took place in Kampala, Uganda from 2-3 December 2019 under the theme “Youth and Forced Displacement in Africa: Trends, Challenges and Prospects towards Durable Solutions”. It was convened under the auspices of the African Governance Architecture- Youth Engagement Strategy. The Continental Youth Consultation was part of the activities of the African Union theme of the year on “Refugees, Returnees and Internally Displaced Persons: Towards Durable Solutions to Forced Displacement in Africa” launched during the February 2019 Summit held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The year marked the 50th anniversary of the adoption of the 1969 Organization of African Unity Convention Governing the Specific Aspects of Refugee Problems in Africa (OAU Refugee Convention) as well as 10th anniversary of the adoption of the 2009 AU Convention for the Protection and Assistance of Internally Displaced Persons in Africa (Kampala Convention).
